The Long Cold Night – sadone
October 12, 2008The night finds you awake,
Staring against a man
who’s eye begins to sulk in utter regret
He’s been called a lot of names,
he’s hurt a lot of hearts,
but tonight,
his heart bleeds of shame.
The man stares back,
Lips shivering,
slowly trying to speak,
but this will not be the 1st he tried to…
and the night just stole his lies,
Stole it all
and sold him to the dark..
The absence of words,
made way to a deep confession..
He speaks of regret.
he speaks of love.
he speaks of love found.
and he speaks of regrets not knowing,
how much that love meant..
he speaks,
he speaks and you listened,
in his desperate cry for forgiveness..
the night stole his life.
Then the night finds you awake,
Staring against a man
who’s life he just confessed..
you reached through his face,
trying to dry the cold tears that passed.
you felt through his pain,
no more than what you can understand.
Yet the cold surface glass mirror,
just fogged the man behind it.
As the shadows fall
on your confession..
The absence of words was more than enough..
Tears ran of yesterday mornings
and sunday dreams,
of small hands,
and warmth smile
of long kisses
and love..
The man no longer stares…
He no longer speaks..
no longer here..
just silence in this long cold night.
just the long cold night..
